Chiropractors care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. Chiropractors work with the nervous system, which is directly related to your immune system and how well your body can heal itself. If your spine is misaligned, it interferes with your nervous system, therefore interfering with your body's ability to heal itself. This is the reason why people with many different conditions are able to see results with chiropractic care.
Chiropractic is recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive professions available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is is completely free of adverse side effects. The most common side effect after an adjustment is soreness. Doctors of chiropractic are well trained professionals who provide patients with safe, effective care for a variety of common conditions.
In most cases, no referral from an an MD is needed, unless required by insurance.
It depends on the company and the insurance plan. Chiropractors and patients can check what their insurance plan covers. Personally, I prefer to work directly with the patient instead of the insurance company in order to meet the patient's needs. With this being said, if your insurance does cover chiropractic, I work with you (the patient) to get reimbursed.
Absolutely! Children have spines and a nervous system that need to be checked because of their active lifestyles. Having children checked at an earlier age can prevent issues further on down the line. And many common childhood conditions, like ear infections, ADD/ADHD, have also been helped through chiropractic.

Most patients report the adjustment feels amazing. Occasionally, there is mild muscle discomfort following an adjustment, which usually resolves within 24 hours.
An initial round of treatment is between 3 and 14 visits over a period of 3 months. Once initial complaints have resolved, it is the patient's choice to continue care for maintenance/wellness purposes in order to prevent initial complaints from returning. Just like exercise and a healthy diet, once is never enough.
The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. There is usually minimal, if any, discomfort involved.
